From an early age, I’ve seemed to be drawn to the spiritual side of things, trying to look past all the commotion and try and focus on what is important. I don’t have any answers, but what I have found is that it’s important to remember that we are not alone in this life. We need to share this earth with everyone that lives on it. We need to work together and help each other. We should learn to be selfless rather than selfish.
No matter what our beliefs are, no matter who we believe that God is – we need to understand that God is watching over us, and while at times we may feel as though our Lord has forgotten us, or doesn’t care for us – the Lord is in fact there for us.
I was complaining to my wife Nancy yesterday that I just can’t understand people. I joked and said that all I wanted was World Peace ( You’d have to have seen Miss Congeniality to appreciate that reference) – and she laughed and said that we’ll never have world peace if the adversary is here. Satan, or whoever you call him if the father of all lies and the father of contention. He’s the one that whispers in our ears to hate.
But I remember what my Savior said in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
I still don’t understand why people do the things that they do. But what I do know, that as long as I have breath – I will follow the command to love one another – and gather in all the peace I can get by putting my peace and faith in my God –
I pray that many will do the same and forget the promptings to hate one another – but to love one another
