January 1, 2020, is quickly closing in on me – I need to make resolutions. I mean everyone makes New Year’s Resolutions, it’s a tradition that at the beginning of every year we commit to making changes in our lives. Whether its losing weight, changing a behavior, getting a better job – or whatever.
The issue with making these kinds of resolutions is that they almost never work, for many we really are not committed, or we simply forget that we made it till it’s too late.
Well, I’m going to make a few commitments this year – and this is how I’m going to do it.
First, I’m going to make a list of things I want to accomplish and then rank them by importance and whether they are attainable.
Second, I’m going to use the great, greater and greatest test for each one. What is that you may say? Well check out this http://www.ldsliving.com/President-Nelson-Shares-Great-Greater-and-Greatest-Goals/s/92134 It’s a great article and makes a lot of sense –
Great goals are those temporal goals – such as losing weight, buying a home, upgrading my job. Things like that.
Greater Goals are those that do with character – those are the type of person that we want to be, such as kind, compassionate, having gratitude, integrity, etc. The things that make us who we are, or who we want to be and who God knows we can be.
Greatest Goals are those of an eternal/spiritual nature – Getting in a right relationship with our God. Studying scriptures daily, being involved with a religious or social community that helps others regardless of affiliations.
It’ll take me a while – so I’ll report next week –
Peace and Grace to you all !!!!
